Personal life 

Jennifer Lopez was born to Puerto Rican parents in the Bronx neighbourhood of New York City. She has a younger sister, Lynda, who is a journalist, and an elder sister, Leslie.

She started dating rapper and record producer Sean Combs while working on her debut album On the 6. After the relationship ended, the singer moved on to backup dancer Cris Judd, to whom she was married from September 2001 to June 2002.

After divorcing Judd, Lopez became romantically linked with actor Ben Affleck. They got engaged in November 2002. The media referred to them as ‘Bennifer’.

Lopez and Affleck broke up in January 2004 and the former called it her “first real heartbreak”. 

In an attempt to “find someone who might make her feel loved and cherished in her loneliest hour,” she had a relationship with her long-time friend, singer Marc Anthony. They married in June 2007. Lopez gave birth to twins, a son and a daughter, on February 22, 2008.

Anthony filed for divorce in April 2012 three after the pair announced their separation in July 2011. Lopez was awarded primary physical custody of the two children when their divorce was completed on June 16, 2014.

Lopez began dating former baseball player Alex Rodriguez in February 2015, and in March 2019, they announced their engagement. 

In April 2021, Lopez and Rodriguez told members of the public that they had decided to end their relationship.

Education

She spent her entire academic career in Catholic schools and finished at Preston High School in the Bronx.

Movie Career

Lopez made her first appearance in the film In Living Color as a Fly Girl dancer in 1991 and decided to pursue acting. She made history as the first Latin actress to earn over $1 million for a film when she played Selena in the 1997 Selena biopic.

She starred in films like Anaconda (1997), Out of Sight (1998), the popular romantic comedies Shall We Dance? (2004), and Monster-in-Law (2006).

After taking a break from acting, she returned to the big screen in May 2012, starring alongside an ensemble cast in What to Expect When You’re Expecting.

She voiced Shira, a saber tooth tiger in the fourth film in the Ice Age franchise. The following year, she was seen alongside Jason Statham in the crime thriller Parker.

Lopez portrayed a veteran stripper in the 2019 film Hustlers. She will next be seen in the upcoming film Marry Me.

Music Career

She released her debut album On the 6 in 1999 and became the first woman to have a number-one album and film in the same week.

Her remix album J to tha L-O! The Remixes debuted at the top of the US Billboard 200 Chart. She appeared as a judge on American Idol in 2011.
