Benjamin Bronfman Net Worth $100 million
Benjamin is the son of actress Sherry Brewer and the former CEO of Warner Music Group Edgar Bronfman Jr., and lived in London briefly with his family, returning to New York in 1984. He attended The Collegiate School and matriculated in 2000, then attended Emerson College to study Politics and Law, but dropped out.
Bronfman became the guitarist for the indie punk/reggae rock band called The Exit. He started the band with Jeff DaRosa in 2000 while at Emerson College, and went by the name Ben Brewer to avoid any association with his father. The band continued to play well and had success which increased his net worth. He provided the vocals for the band and they released their first album called “New Beat”. They started touring, and their songs would receive good reviews. They then released a follow up album entitled “Home for an Island”, which was set to be a political response to life after 9/11 in New York City, and which also proved successful.
However, in 2007 the band broke up, and he then founded the environmentally conscious independent record label Green Owl, which is distributed by Warner Music Group. In the same year, he became very interested in geo-engineering as well as environmental technologies, and started a project to reduce the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Eventually, he joined Global Thermostat and became the associate managing director, and would help in creating the first pilot plant at the Stanford Research Institute. His net worth continued to build up, especially after 2010 when he was named Strategic Advisor. He also became a principal investor at Algae Systems, which is a bio-fuel company; the company takes waste water from cities and generates jet fuel.
Benjamin also started the music collective called Teachers which includes Matt Kranz, Scottie Redix, and Steve Borth. They released a single called “Gold”, and also worked with Kanye West for his single “Monster”, which featured various artists such as Bon Iver and Jay-Z. In 2013, Teachers co-produced Kanye’s first single “New Slaves” as part of his “Yeezus” album. This earned Bronfman his first Grammy nomination.
For his personal life, it is known that Benjamin was engaged to rapper, songwriter, and painter M.I.A (Mathangi “Maya” Arulpragasam). They had a son, but in 2012 they separated.
