Jelena Djokovic (nee Ristic) was born on the 17th of June 1986 in Belgrade, Serbia. Her father’s name is Miomir while her mother’s name is Vera. Djokovic spent her formative years in Belgrade. It must be noted that she hails from a humble background; her parents were not well to do but they still managed to do right by their kids. As a result of her humble background, Jelena Djokovic realized from an early age that if she wanted to achieve something in life, she would have to work hard for it. She therefore surrounded herself with books and subsequently became an outstanding student in elementary and high school.
After high school, Jelena Djokovic was able to obtain scholarships for a foreign college education which had always been her ambitions. She attended The Bocconi University Milan where she earned her first degree in Business Administration. After that, she also attended the International University of Monaco where she obtained her masters in luxury brand management. All of Djokovic’s hard work paid off when she landed a job with a leading energy company upon graduation. He started paying tennis when he was four and turned professional at the age of 16. Since then, he has won 74 career titles including 15 Grand Slams, 33 ATP Masters titles and 5 ATP Finals titles. Djokovic is also the only man to win all nine Masters 1000 titles; even legends such as Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer cannot boast of such a feat! Jelena Djokovic first met her husband when they were both in high school. They subsequently became friends and had a platonic relationship for about five years before becoming lovers in 2005.
