Requirements
- The Swiss visitor visa is one of the types of short-stay Schengen visa.
- The short-stay Schengen visa is a type C visa which permits stays of up to 90 days in every 180 days.
- The other types of short-stay visas are the airport transit Swiss visa, tourist or visitor visa, business visa, and medical visa.
- There is also the short-term study visa which allows:
- courses of 90 days or less
- internships for 90 days or less
- training courses
- researches
- If you would be travelling through Switzerland to other countries, you would need an airport transit visa also called the Schengen A visa. You however would be required to present the necessary documents for that country and your visa for that country.
- The transit visa allows you to stay in Switzerland for a maximum of 48 hours after which you must continue your journey.
- Individuals who want to visit friends and family or engage in tourism and recreational activities are eligible for a Swiss visitor visa.
- If you would be staying with your friend or relative, you would have to present a letter of invitation from them.
- The business visa is used for signing and negotiating of contracts, conducting businesses and even hiring staff.
- To apply for the business visa, you need to provide:
- a letter from your Cambodian employer stating that your trip is approved
- an invitation letter from the business partner/company in Swiss
- documents proving that the business is legitimate
- evidence that your business trip is financially supported
- Swiss medical visa allows for short-term medical treatments. Applicants are expected to provide a medical report from their doctor in Cambodia and an appointment letter from the doctor in Switzerland.
- All applicants are expected to have accommodation confirmation in Swiss for the duration of their stay and enough funds to cover their trip.
- The short term visa costs €60.
Switzerland Student Visa Eligibility &
Requirements
- Switzerland student visa is of the long-stay non-immigrant visa type.
- It is also known as the Type D visa and is usually valid for over 90 days.
- Typically, it takes about 15 working days to process this visa but it could be longer depending on the applicant’s circumstances.
- Holders of this visa need to apply for a temporary resident permit.
- Swiss has two types of temporary residence permit. The L permit and B permit.
- Students taking a course that is not over 12 months can apply for the L permit as it is issued for one year and is not renewable.
- The B permit is usually issued for between 1 to 5 years and can be renewed. This is ideal for individuals taking up a long course of study.
- Ensure that the application form you would submit is correctly filled and signed where appropriate. Information filled in the form must not be false.
- Students are to apply for a residence permit within the first 90 days of their arrival in Switzerland or stand the risk of having their visa revoked.
- The student visa allows its holders to pursue a degree or post-graduate degree.
- An admission confirmation from the institution the student enrolled in is required.
- Medical insurance is also required for all applicants.
- Students would be required to prove that they have sufficient funding for their education. This coud be in form of a bank statement or scholarship certificate.
- Previous educational certificates or qualifications are also to be presented.
- In some case, proof of payment of fees is required.
- After six months, students can work for up to 15 hours a week during a semester and full-time during holidays.
- Those who already hold a master’s degree can start work immediately.
- You are expected to leave Switzerland as soon as your visa expires.
