The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has urged the new Oniru of Iru land, Oba Gbolahan Lawal, to show good character, adding that his effort to move the kingdom forward will be futile without character.

A statement said Tinubu spoke on Sunday during the coronation reception of Lawal as the 15th Oniru of Iru land on Victoria Island, Lagos State.

The event was said to have also been attended by  Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi; and representatives of the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu.

The APC national leader said the event should signal an end to the tussle and controversies that trailed the selection of Lawal as Oniru, adding that it was time the kingdom moved on.

Tinubu, who described the Oniru as a son, said he was a good choice for the community and urged members of the ruling houses to rally round him for the progress of Iru land.

Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, said he looked forward to more rewarding development activities in the community.

Oba Lawal, a three-time member of the State Executive Council, later unveiled his economic development plan for the kingdom, tagged, ‘LeGIt’, which he said was tailored to reflect key deliverables of the THEMES agenda of the Sanwo-Olu administration.
