Four persons have been crushed to death in an accident involving a truck and a commercial bus along Ijebu Ode-Oru Road.
Two other persons also reportedly sustained injuries in the accident which occurred on Saturday.
The spokesperson for Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, who confirmed the casualties, explained that the accident occurred around 1pm.
He blamed it on speeding and loss of control on the part of the truck driver.
According to him, six people, comprising three men and three women, were involved in the accident.
He explained that the truck, due to speeding lost control of the vehicle, left its lane and rammed into a bus loaded with kola nuts going in the opposite direction.
He said, “The bus was en route to Ibadan, Oyo State from an unknown destination while the truck was heading towards Ijebu-Ode from Ibadan axis. All the passengers in the bus, including the driver and three women died on the spot.”
The TRACE spokesman stated that the corpses had been deposited at the morgue of Ijebu Ode General Hospital while the injured truck driver and one other person were taken to the same hospital for treatment.
He said TRACE Corps Commander, Seni Ogunyemi, commiserated with the family of the dead victims and warned articulated vehicle drivers against reckless and dangerous driving.
