Manchester United are pushing to close a deal for Fiorentina star Federico Chiesa.
Corriere Fiorentino reports a £50million-plus deal ‘is close to being agreed’ but there remains some doubts on Chiesa’s side about a move to the Premier League.
United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to strengthen at right-wing with Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho appearing to be the club’s primary target.
But with Dortmund holding out for around £100m, that move may prove a stretch too far in the first transfer window since the coronavirus pandemic commenced back in March.
Chiesa – the son of former Italy striker Enrico – is rated as one of Italy’s best young prospects and will be an integral part of their squad for next summer’s European Championship.
