Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has spoken of his admiration for Real Madrid counterpart Zinedine Zidane.

City host the second-leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie against Real defending a 2-1 aggregate lead. Real go into the game as newly crowned LaLiga champions.

Discussing Zidane, Guardiola said: “I admire him and I am glad that he is doing well. He does football well, in good times and bad.

“As a footballer he was impressive. I once faced him in the national team.

“You do not win three consecutive Champions by chance or take two LaLigas from Barça, from the team that has dominated this last decade.

“Let no one expect anything special, because we are not going to surprise Real Madrid. I want to go out and play, shoot, defend, run, the simple things that a team has to do to win.”
