Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp wants to bring Bayern Munich defender David Alaba to Anfield.

The Guardian says Klopp’s outfit are ‘pushing hard’ to land the 28-year-old, whose contract expires once the 2020-21 season ends.

But it has been a long held dream of Alaba’s to one day play for Real Madrid and the Spanish giants are very much the favourites for his signature as things stand.

The 28-year-old Austria international, off contract in June, can play as a centre-back or a left-back and has been playing for Bayern since 2008.

In his 12 years at the club, Alaba has won nine Bundesliga titles and the Champions League twice, including last season.

He is not believed to be pushing for a January departure and is happy to see out his contract with Hansi Flick’s side, who sit at the summit of the Bundesliga standings.
