How Super Eagles Rate vs Tunisia

SCORENigeria rates the individual performances of the Super Eagles after they put up an improved showing as demanded by coach Gernot Rohr, but it was still not enough to beat Tunisia.

Maduka Okoye 7

No doubt he’s come to stay in the Super Eagles with yet another assured showing tonight. Great save late in the game to seal a good night.

Kevin Akpoguma 5

A laboured first start for the new boy, switched to centre back following Balogun’s substitution, but still nothing much changed. The Tunisian attackers kept him on his toes literally all night long.

Kenneth Omeruo 5

Was taken on a ride for the goal the Eagles conceded but came alive afterwards though not his best in an Eagles’ shirt.

Zaidu Sanusi 6

Another assured performance from the FC Porto left back, alive to his defensive duties, exciting go forward, but a groin injury forced his substitution. Seems to have locked down left back position.

Leon Balogun 7

But for his early second-half injury, the Glasgow Rangers centre-back was ever present in the Eagles defence, keeping things tight and organising his lines.

Semi Ajayi 6

Was still not convincing in his new role in the holding midfield, even though ran himself aground trying to stop the rampaging, mobile North Africans.

Alex Iwobi 6

Caught the eye again on the night doing both defensive and offensive duties in the midfield, but again very little end product for all the endeavour.

Moses Simon 6

Manned the left wing well with his speed, skills, yet his final ball was just not what we know him for. Kept the Tunisian defence busy all through.

Ahmed Musa 5

Subdued showing by the Eagles skipper for his 93rd cap for his country. It appears his swan song is nigh.

Samuel Chukwueze 5

Was hardly in this game as he was once again taken care of by the well-organized Tunisia defence. Failed again to raise his game.

Kelechi Iheanacho 7

Welcome back to Eagles, Kelechi! Great showing as the arrow head, missed a penalty and almost was on his way for a late shower for a late, reckless tackle. Great thinking behind his goal. A striker’s goal.

Chidozie Awaziem 5

Replaced Balogun and exchanged places with Akpoguma, had his plate full containing the North Africans, but somehow still managed to get the job done.

Jamilu Collins 5

Replaced Sanusi at left back to continue the defensive duties against the fast Tunisians. Still needs to do a lot more especially with new competition for his place in the first team.

Chidera Ejuke 5

Had he been introduced early enough for his debut, maybe he would have scored and made an assist. His entertaining dribbles also got the fans talking, but he also needs to be more purposeful his coaches will say.

Cyriel Dessers 5

Nothing special to report as his much-talked about debut came without much fanfare. He has to do a lot more to convince.

Super Eagles vs Tunisia: Maduka Okoye – Zaidu Sanusi (Jamilu Collins 66), Kevin Akpoguma, Kenneth Omeruo, Leon Balogun (Chidozie Awaziem 57) – Semi Ajayi – Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze (Chidera Ejuke 78), Moses Simon, Kelechi Iheanacho – Ahmed Musa (Cyriel Dessers 72)
