Super Eagles and Galatasaray newest signing, Ogenekaro Etebo is in a race against time to return to full fitness and has been ruled out of Thursday’s Europa League qualifying clash against Nefti Baku.
Galatasaray signed Etebo from England’s Stoke City on a one-year loan deal, but it was stated that the Nigerian has not been training on high-paced since June 15, and therefore, a special training program will be adopted by Gala for 10 days in a desperate bid to knock him back to full fitness.

Etebo, will be specially trained under the watchful eye of an American fitness trainer, Scott Piri who has been tasked to speed up Etebo’s training programme and ensure that the Nigerian is ready to face Medipol Başakşehir on September 20.
Coach Fatih Terim is expected to assign a trio consisting of Ömer Bayram-Taylan Antalyalı-Sofiane Feghouli or Younes Belhanda in the midfield in the absence of Etebo, who is missing training, and Emre Akbaba, who was previously injured.
Etebo was on loan to Spain’s Getafe last season and produced one goal in 11 appearances. The 24-year-old also scored two goals and one assist in 51 games for Stoke City.
In 2018, the Nigerian midfielder had joined Stoke City from Portugal’s CD Feirense for a transfer fee of €7.2 million ($8.5 million).
