Police intercepts 10 AK-47 rifles, illegal drugs in Taraba

The police in Taraba State on Monday said they intercepted 10 AK-47 rifles and ammunition from suspected gunrunners in the Lau Local Government Area of the state.

The command added that several cartons of contraband drugs were also intercepted.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP David Misal, said two suspects linked with the arms abandoned their motorcycle on sighting the police.

He said effort were ongoing by the command to arrest the suspects.

He said, “Operatives of the command had intercepted a truck loaded with different kinds of goods which arrived from Anambra.

“After a thorough search, 20 cartons of codeine, 21 cartons of codolin codeine and 20 cartons of piscof Codeine, 13 cartons of tutolin and five cartons of sildenafil citrate tablets, among other ilicit drugs were intercepted.”

The police spokesman said one Emmanuel Ugwoke and Jude Azu were arrested and detained in connection with the crime.
