Yuletide: Police ban fireworks in Kogi

The Kogi State Police Command says it has banned the use of fireworks during the festive period.

The Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr. Ayuba Ekpeji passed the order while briefing senior officers at the command headquarters, Tuesday in Lokoja.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), William Aya, on Tuesday morning, said that the CP advised parents and guardians to warn their children and wards to stay away from knockouts as policemen across the state have been directed to arrest anyone violating the order.

He directed the Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, as well as Operational Commanders to review their crime-fighting strategies and increase the visibility of policemen to ensure a peaceful Yuletide in Kogi State.

He assured members of the public that the police in synergy with other security agencies in the state is putting more effort to ensure a peaceful festive period.
