There is hope in uncertain time, says Senator Tinubu

THE lawmaker representing Lagos Central Senatorial District, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has said there is hope for the country in uncertain time.

In her Eid-el-Kabir message, she said: “I felicitate with Muslims in the Lagos Central Senatorial District, Lagos State and Nigeria on this year’s celebration of Eid-el-Kabir.

“This celebration reminds us of Prophet Ibrahim’s absolute obedience to God.  In celebrating Eid-el-Kabir, often, we emphasise his willingness to obey God, regardless of what the sacrifice entailed.

“Beyond this, however, it highlights how God always shows up in our situation. He may not show up how or when we want, but he will show up at the best time. Just before Prophet Ibrahim could sacrifice his son, God provided a worthy alternative.

“This year has been tumultuous, even for the world at large. We must, however, trust that in spite of and regardless of everything that is going on right now, it will work out for our good.

“While many are unable to attend Hajj or gather physically as they usually would in celebration of the festival, we must come to terms with the realities on ground. We must, however, continue to do our part, pray, trust in God and obey constituted authority.

“This is also a good time to remind us all that we are still in the middle of a pandemic. Thus, we must continue to abide by the directives laid down by the government – avoid large gatherings, practise social distancing, wash your hands and wear your face masks.

“I urge you all to let the teachings of Islam – forbearance, moderation, love for your neighbour and alms giving- be evident in your lives and conduct.

Once again, I congratulate you and wish you a joyous celebration.  Happy Eid-el-Kabir.”
