Insecurity: Wamakko donates 105 motorcycles to vigilantes


TO strengthen the war against insecurity, Senator Aliyu Wamakko at the weekend donated 105 motorcycles to members of the Sokoto State branch of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN).

Wamakko’s gesture is a sequel to the disturbing security situation at the level as well in fulfilment of a recent pledge to extend the gesture to the group in its course to brace up against the insecurity challenges.

Wamakko, a former governor of the state and Chairman Senate Committee on Defence, had a week ago, pledged when he paid condolence/sympathy visits to Tangaza Local Government, over the killing of a Divisional Police Officer and another Police Inspector in addition to scores of cases of kidnapping in the area.

The lawmaker, who represents Sokoto North Senatorial District, pledged five motorcycles to the vigilantes in each of the twenty-one local governments of the state, said Sokoto North and Sokoto South local governments would be given special packages.

Wamakko had on October 1, delivered the motorcycles to the Sokoto North zone comprising Binji, Wamakko, Silame, Kware, Tangaza and Gudu.

In the same vein, the VGN members in the eight local governments that make up the Sokoto East Senatorial District received delivery of their motorcycles.

They are: Gada, Illela, Goronyo,Isa, Sabon Birni, Wurno, Rabah and Gwadabawa.

However, the VGN members in the Sokoto South Senatorial District will get their motorcycles in the next few days.
