Gunmen abduct housewife in Kastina fresh attack

Olaide Oyelude, Katsina

Gunmen have abducted the wife of Ahmed Muhammad, a popular bakery owner in Kafin Soli, in the Kankia Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Residents said the gunmen who stormed the town on motorcycles on Wednesday were on a reprisal, following the arrest of five men alleged to be their informants by security agents.

The gunmen had reportedly attacked the town on five occasions before Wednesday.

It was gathered that Muhammad escaped by whiskers.

The residents told our correspondent that the gunmen arrived in the town at midnight and operated for three hours.

One of them said, “They were here on reprisal because they are not happy that their informants’ identities were revealed to the security agents.”

The spokesman for the state police command, SP Gambo Isah, confirmed the incident.

He said, “Our officers and men are working round-the-clock to ensure the rescue of the woman and get the gunmen arrested.”
