Why I’m called ‘daddy street’ –Baddyoosha

Dubai, United Arab Emirates-based songwriter, singer and actor, Badmus Akeem, better known as Baddyoosha, is also called ‘Daddy Street’ by his fans and many have wondered why.

Speaking shortly after the release of ‘September 30’, his sophomore Extended Play album, Baddyoosha told Saturday Beats, “I am called ‘Daddy Street’ because I represent the streets. As a matter of fact, some people see me as the ‘face behind the street’. My first EP was titled ‘Street’ and a lot of people identified with it. For my new EP, I also teamed up with notable ‘street artistes’ such as Naira Marley and Reminisce. The project is basically an ode to the street to start dancing again after the coronavirus pandemic ground things to a halt.”

Baddyoosha, who has acted in Nollywood movies including ‘Alakada Reloaded’ and ‘The Ghost and the Tout’, noted that the lockdown period afforded him enough time to work on the album. He added, “The EP was recorded while I was in quarantine in Dubai with my longtime producer and friend, Pjaya. It wasn’t long before we decided to make use of my in-house studio and work started on the album.”
