I want my work to speak for me —Swapsonthemix

Sound engineer, Efe Esuakpor, better known as Swapsonthemix, says even though he has worked with many A-list artistes and music producers, he cherishes his privacy and would prefer if his works speak for him.

He said, “I have enjoyed a successful career and have worked with top Nigerian singers such as Davido, Don Jazzy, Yemi Alade, Tekno, 9ice and Sugarboy. Every producer I have worked with has positively influenced my mix. I see every job as a learning curve and that has helped me to evolve over the years. My fans rarely get to see my picture on social media because I love my privacy. I would rather have my work and skills speak for themselves. My face is not a requisite for validation. Recently, I was with Orezi outside his house when some guys came to greet him and they ignored me. They had finished with him and were leaving when Orezi called my name. The guys were surprised and came back to greet me. I have actually walked into people talking about me not knowing I was the one. For me, that is the fun of it.”

Esuakpor also said seeing the music industry grow beyond the shores of Nigeria was a big deal for him. “It is an honour knowing that when they tell the story of the Nigeria music industry, my name would be mentioned alongside people like Zeeno Foster, Sheyman, Indomix, Suka Sound and others before me. In the last few years, Afrobeats has broken into the mainstream and being a part of it gives me a great feeling of joy and gratitude.”
