Edo gov’ship: Esan Coalition endorses Ize-Iyamu

Ahead of the September 19 governorship election in Edo State, the Coalition of Esan People (COEP) has endorsed the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu

Spokesman of the coalition, Mr. Kenneth Edewele, said on Friday in Abuja that the purported endorsement of Governor Godwin Obaseki by some Esan professionals does not represent the wish of Esan people.

According to the Coalition, APC will win the election and Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu will be the next governor that will hand over to an Esan governor after his eight years.

Edewele alleged that those who purportedly endorsed Governor Obaseki were on their own as they did not consult the Esan people.

“The All Progressive Congress (APC) will win the forth coming gubernatorial elections. APC will win the election and Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu will be the next governor that will hand over to an Esan governor after his eight years.

“Governor Obaseki’s plan is to hand over to his deputy after his four years in 2024. His deputy will in turn spend another eight years before thinking of an Esan governor, probably in 2032,” he added.

While calling on their people to support the APC, the Esan Coalition said those who “endorsed Obaseki were on a mission to adopt PDP as the official party of Esan people and perhaps ambitiously fill the leadership vacuum left behind by late Chief Tony Anenih, Iyasele of Esanland”
