78 Private Universities are Ready to Resume – FG

The federal government through the Minister of State for Education, Mr Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, has revealed that about 78 private universities have indicated interest and readiness to resume academic activities in the country, while the response from government-owned universities was still “50-50”.

He revealed this during the briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 on Monday in Abuja.

He also maintained that, no date has been fixed yet for full schools’ resumption, but expressed optimism that the date for resumption was “around the corner”.

Nwajiuba urged students of tertiary institutions protesting the continued closure of their schools to be a little more patient with the government as they work out modalities for resumption.
